Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how AltcoinCompare (“AltcoinCompare”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you visit https://altcoincompare.com (the “Service”), and describes your privacy rights and how the law protects you. We are committed to collecting the minimum information necessary and we do not sell your personal data. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.

1. Interpretation and definitions

The following terms have the meanings given below wherever they appear with an initial capital letter:

  • “Personal Data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
  • “Usage Data” means data collected automatically through use of the Service, such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited.
  • “Cookies” are small files placed on your device; see our Cookie Policy for details.
  • “Data Controller” means the party that determines the purposes and means of processing Personal Data — for the Service, this is AltcoinCompare.
  • “Service Provider” means any third party that processes data on our behalf.
  • “You” means the individual using the Service, or the entity on whose behalf that individual is acting.

2. Data controller

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and similar laws, AltcoinCompare acts as the Data Controller for Personal Data processed through the Service. You can reach us using the contact details at the end of this Policy.

3. Types of data we collect

Personal Data you provide. When you contact us or submit a form — for example a coin listing request — we collect the information you choose to give us, which may include your email address, the name of your project, and the contents of your message.

Usage and technical data. When you visit the Service, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect information such as your device's IP address, approximate location (country/region), browser type and version, operating system, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, time spent on pages, referring URLs, and other diagnostic data.

Cookies and tracking data. We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service and, where you consent, to measure usage. See our Cookie Policy.

4. How we collect information

  • Directly from you — when you email us or submit a form.
  • Automatically — through cookies, analytics tags, server logs, and similar technologies as you interact with the Service.
  • From third parties — such as analytics and advertising providers that help us understand and improve the Service.

5. How we use your Personal Data and our legal bases

We may use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • to provide, operate, and maintain the Service and its comparison tools (legal basis: legitimate interests / performance of a service you request);
  • to understand aggregate traffic and improve the Service and its features (legal basis: consent for analytics cookies, and/or legitimate interests);
  • to respond to your inquiries, listing requests, and support messages (legal basis: legitimate interests / steps taken at your request);
  • to display and measure advertising, where applicable (legal basis: consent, where required);
  • to detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse, and to keep the Service secure (legal basis: legitimate interests);
  • to comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms (legal basis: legal obligation / legitimate interests).

Where we rely on your consent (for example for analytics or advertising cookies for visitors in the EU/EEA and UK), you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

6. Disclosure of your Personal Data

We do not sell your Personal Data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers — with vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics (e.g. Google Analytics), and advertising partners, under appropriate confidentiality and data- protection obligations.
  • Legal requirements — where required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • To protect rights — where necessary to protect the security, rights, property, or safety of AltcoinCompare, our users, or the public.

7. Analytics and third-party advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Service. For visitors in the EU/EEA and UK, analytics cookies are set only after you provide consent through our cookie banner. Google processes this data in accordance with its own privacy policy. The Service may also display advertising, and advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to measure performance and, where permitted, to serve interest-based ads. Where consent is required, these technologies are subject to your choices in our cookie banner and, where offered, your ad-settings controls with the relevant providers.

8. Retention of your Personal Data

We retain Personal Data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period, except where used to strengthen security or improve functionality, or where we are legally required to retain it for longer. Aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you may be retained indefinitely.

9. International data transfers

Your information, including Personal Data, may be processed in — and transferred to — countries outside your own, including where our Service Providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where we transfer Personal Data internationally, we take steps to ensure it is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy and applicable law, including, where required, relying on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your Personal Data:

  • the right to access the Personal Data we hold about you;
  • the right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • the right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”);
  • the right to restrict processing;
  • the right to object to processing, including for direct marketing;
  • the right to data portability;
  • the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent;
  • the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

EU/EEA and UK visitors. These rights arise under the GDPR and UK GDPR. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know what Personal Information we collect and how it is used and shared, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of Personal Information (note: we do not sell your Personal Information), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. Security of your Personal Data

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your Personal Data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping any information you share with us confidential.

12. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

13. Links to other websites

The Service may contain links to third-party websites that we do not operate. This Policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, where changes are material, provide additional notice. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect indicates your acceptance of the updated Policy.
